Count the Cost

Luke 14:28-33

Jesus: Which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has sufficient funds to finish it? Otherwise, after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish it, all that see it will mock him. They will say, “This man began to build, and was not able to finish.”

Jesus (continued): Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to defeat him who comes against him with twenty thousand? If he determines that he can’t, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends ambassadors and desires conditions of peace.

Jesus concluded: So likewise you must count the cost. And whoever of you does not forsake all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.
