The Faithful Servant Explained

The Faithful Servant

Luke 12:35-40

Stay dressed and keep your lights burning.

You should be like servants who wait for their lord until he returns from the wedding; who open the door to him immediately when he comes and knocks.

Blessed are those servants, whom the lord shall find watching when he comes.

And the lord shall gird himself, and make the servants sit down to eat, and he will serve them.

And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them watching, blessed are those servants.

And know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through.

Be therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you do not think.

The Faithful Servant Explained

Luke 12:41-44

Peter (to Jesus): Lord, do you speak this parable to us, or to everyone?

Jesus: Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord shall find so doing when he comes. Of a truth, he will put him in charge of all that he has.
